If you don't mind me saying, it seems that yet again ideology has blinded you to what the "Theory Left" are saying. By pointing to actual, *material* power differentials (I don't think you would really insist power plays no part in social life?), and opposing group interests, they are not setting out to attack an objectively-based universalism. They are, in fact, following the ethos of the Enlightenment by questioning such dogmas: "this supposed *liberal* universalism I'm being told to accept seems tied up with historically situated power centres. It doesn't appear to speak for me."
Someone who is so keen on appealing to the Enlightenment should recognize this dissent for what it is: independent use of reason; exposing the prevailing dogma - one, I may remind you, borne from capitalist "primitive accumulation", i.e. racialized slavery and genocide. If Liberalism cannot survive such interrogations (usually, sadly, limited to sections of academia and alternative media), perhaps it hasn't deserved to right to persist?
