What you’re engaging in a simple-minded tribalism and have conned enough fellow-*feelers* into believing that this is actually smart, grown-up anti-tribalism. An old New Atheist trick - replacing US elite consensus with "Civilisation" - which stretches back far before that rabble. Embarrassing.

Edit: How, for example, do you square your Civilisation-Terrorism dichotomy with elements of the Israeli state — including Netanyahu himself — supporting Hamas, in a cynical bid to divide and weaken Palestinian political efforts? Are you even aware of this?
