Well, this seems to be a breakthrough. Wasn't your line at one point that the illiberal right and left were one and the same? (Hence my quoting of Trotsky, about two spherical lumps on either side of the liberal's head.)

And also you seem to be becoming aware that the irritating campus illiberals are not nearly the same sort of threat to society, as the illiberals who dominate the Republican Party and Supreme Court (not to mention the gun-toting roaming bands). You are approaching Francis Fukuyama-levels of nuance and seriousness. Whose recent book on the topic is well worth a read. And I say that as an ideologically-blind critical-theorist-postmodern-Marxist or whatever confused, content-free label centrists are applying this week.
